BESS is a Sydney florist devoted to Australian native wildflowers. It carries on a family tradition of growing and selling flowers that spans five generations. BESS is the florist we usually work with for funerals in Sydney.
What is included
The florists at BESS use only Australian grown flowers and specialise in using the native wildflowers grown by Bess’ father. They can incorporate any seasonally available plants or flowers that are important to your family or create a design based on a theme or colour of your choice. Our standard price includes a premium small sheath worth $550.
Larger or different arrangements, like the one below, are available at a higher price.
A family in flowers
Bess grew up on a farm on the NSW Central Coast, surrounded by the native wildflowers grown by her father and grandfather. Her grandfather, Colin Scott, once kept a small shop at Rookwood Cemetery. He insisted that families deserved “good flowers, not rubbish” for their loved ones’ graves. Her father, Craig Scott, continues to grow flowers at Mangrove Mountain.
n 2018, after fifteen years as a florist in Sydney and London, Bess opened BESS Paddington with her husband, Jack.
How we know Bess
Marc goes to the same church as Bess’ father, Craig. Every Mother’s Day, Craig puts together a large display of flowers as a backdrop for photos of mothers with their families. It is such beautiful work, and Bess has the same gift.
