Compassionate Care for Blue Mountains Locals
Andrew, one of Marc’s friends, lives in the Blue Mountains and has been both an encouragement and a source of valuable advice to Marc. When needed, he is also available to care for families in person. While Marc’s work has primarily taken him elsewhere, before founding Marc and Friends, he served families in or near Blaxland, Faulconbridge, Glenbrook, Leura, Springwood, and other areas in the Mountains.
Cremation-Only
The most cost-effective option is cremation near Camden, with the ashes returned to the Blue Mountains. However, some families choose cremation at Leura Memorial Gardens for an additional fee.

Funeral and Cremation
A funeral service may be held in a church, followed by an unattended cremation in South-Western Sydney or at Leura Memorial Gardens (with an additional fee).
Leura Memorial Gardens offers a beautiful chapel in a picturesque setting. However, families should be aware that chapel bookings are limited to a maximum of 45 minutes.

Funeral and Burial
The Blue Mountains has a privately-run cemetery at Leura Memorial Gardens, and the Blue Mountains Council manages nine cemeteries. The following are open to new burials:
Blackheath Cemetery
Katoomba Cemetery
Lawson Cemetery
Mt Irvine Cemetery
Mt Victoria Cemetery
Springwood Cemetery
Wentworth Falls Cemetery
Double-Depth Burials
Where possible, double-depth graves are encouraged, allowing for two interments and/or up to ten sets of ashes in a single plot. However, due to varying soil conditions across Blue Mountains cemeteries, double-depth burials cannot always be guaranteed.

Funeral at a Church
Followed by a Cremation
Families who wish to hold a funeral at a church before a cremation typically choose for the cremation to take place later, unattended. The cremation itself usually occurs in South-Western Sydney, though it can also be arranged at Leura Memorial Gardens, or another location for an additional fee.

Burial on Private Land
Families considering a private land burial should ideally plan well in advance, as the process can take up to six months and requires a Development Application. The total landholding must be at least five hectares, as burials on smaller properties are not permitted.
