Susan’s Succulents

Susan’s Succulents grows succulents, orchids and indoor plants. For funerals, Susan makes living arrangements on natural driftwood, using whatever is at its best in the season. We collect the arrangement from Susan ourselves and bring it to the service at no extra charge. The arrangement rests on the coffin during the service, and the family takes it home afterwards.

What is included

Our standard funeral prices include a medium arrangement on 450 mm driftwood, worth $400. Where our standard price in your area allows more than $400 for flowers, we take the difference off the total quote. A large arrangement, on one-metre driftwood, is $800 and we take off the amount already allowed for flowers.

The plants change with the seasons. In spring, for example, Susan might use flowering orchids with colourful succulents (like those pictured). Each arrangement is made by hand, using locally grown plants wherever possible, and Susan can tailor it to what a family has in mind.

Cut flowers fade within days, but succulents are easy to look after and can be kept for years. Some families find it a comfort to have something living to tend in memory of the person they have lost.

Susan’s Succulents requires a minimum of one week’s notice for arrangements. Two weeks' notice would be ideal for the plants fully established on the log.

How we know Susan

Marc has known Susan and her husband since about 2018. They have been a great encouragement in the work of Marc & Friends Funerals. Marc has often marvelled at the colour and variety on Susan’s farm, and has watched the business grow from its beginnings at home.
