Marc & Friends — funeral, cremation and burial services, with genuine care and thoughtful personal touches.

Supporting families in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Illawarra, Lower Hunter and Southern Highlands.

“We love because he first loved us” — 1 John 4:19

We’re about loving people.

Informed by generations of care, we offer transparent prices with no pressure. Thoughtful details are included, and our support continues in  the days and weeks afterwards.

And our modest profits quietly help ease costs for families with limited means.

With Roots in 19th-Century London: A Legacy of Compassion and Innovation

Marc’s family helped shape the profession, with forebears on different sides of the family in Sydney and Melbourne. They were among the founders of five industry associations — including several past presidents of the Australian Funeral Directors Association (AFDA). But Marc seeks to shape the vocation differently — by making it about loving people.

The “Friends” in our name aren’t just a sentiment — they’re real people who’ve shaped this work. Some help care for families directly — like Andrew, Anelle and Phil. Whilst others continue to offer wisdom, support, and encouragement behind the scenes.

Guided by family feedback and global best practices, we continually refine our approach — drawing insights from funeral directors we have met in Australia, New Zealand, North and South America, and Europe.

What families have said

Since launching in January 2025, Marc & Friends has been warmly received. These are reviews from people Marc met before founding the service — people Marc has stayed in touch with.

How We Care for Families

Caring Through Transparent Prices

No Upselling

Only our professional service fee includes a modest profit — everything else is at cost. There’s no incentive to upsell, only to care well.

Coffins and Caskets at Cost

Families are free to choose what feels right. For families wanting to arrange a funeral, options range from the simple Richmond designs — rosewood, teak, or white — to the distinctive Waratah Casket, crafted locally from recycled timber (see the photo).

Personal Touches for All Funerals

Our quotes for a funeral include what most families naturally expect: a civil celebrant, minister, or priest; a respectful coffin; a premium small casket cover of flowers; a guest book; and a slideshow (like the one pictured).

Optional additions — such as printed orders of service — are clearly outlined in our price guides. No surprises, and no pressure.

Personal Touches for All Families

We have a standard level of care for all families we serve.

With burial, we provide a basket of rose petals for the committal.

With cremation, families can choose from 15 urn designs — including floral patterns and ocean sunsets — suitable for keeping or scattering with dignity.

Personal Touches for Guests at a Service

From the moment people arrive, we try to make things feel a little lighter. The welcome table — where guests sign in — offers simple comforts: tissues, mints, and a quiet sense that they’re being looked after.

Caring for the Whole Person

Our support continues beyond the day of the service.

We help organise the death certificate promptly and can suggest trusted legal services — online or in person. Families can also be connected to a GriefShare support group and receive a small gift to encourage reconnection with friends and loved ones in the weeks that follow.

Extending Care to Others

Thanks to families who pay the usual fee, we’re able to offer the same level of care to those in need.

Our colleagues are paid above the norm, and our suppliers are paid promptly — because love should guide every part of what we do.
