Care Fund Funerals

We believe funerals are a service before they are a business. That’s why our fee structure includes a portion set aside to assist certain families. We call this a Care Fund Funeral.

A Care Fund Funeral is for families in financial hardship who have limited means. It is also available to parents of a stillborn child, baby, child, or adolescent. In each situation, these families still receive Holistic Care.

While we cannot help every family in need, we strive to make support as accessible as possible—whether by subsidising our fees, offering advice, or both. If funds are available, we can reduce the Professional Services fee by 80%. However, all costs must still be paid in full upfront.

If you need additional funds, there are various options available—learn more. There may not be immediate time pressure to find the funds. The timeframe for bringing someone into the care of a funeral director can vary. It’s best to speak with the appropriate person for guidance, such as a hospital social worker.

If you require a Care Fund Funeral, the process is informal. Please ask someone you have spoken with to verify your request. They can email us with your name, contact number, the name of your loved one, and confirmation of financial hardship.

This could be a friend who has set up a GoFundMe page, a social worker at a hospital or Coroner’s office, or someone from an aged care facility, church, or charity.

If you have no means whatsoever, you would not be eligible for a Care Fund Funeral with Marc and Friends. However, alternatives are available. In NSW, this is normally known as a Destitute Funeral. In the ACT, a similar arrangement exists known as Funeral Assistance.

We hope this provides clarity and support during a difficult time.
