We’re about loving people

“We love because he first loved us”.

1 John 4:19

With Roots in 19th-Century London: A Legacy of Compassion and Innovation

Marc’s family helped shape the profession, with forebears on different sides of the family in both Sydney and Melbourne, and founders of five industry associations. including past presidents of the Australian Funeral Directors Association (AFDA). But Marc seeks to fashion it differently — by making it about loving people.

The “Friends” in our name aren’t just a sentiment—they’re real people who’ve shaped this work. Some help care for families directly—like Andrew, Anelle and Phil. Whilst others continue to offer wisdom, support, and encouragement behind the scenes.

Guided by family feedback and global best practices, we continually refine our approach—drawing insights from funeral directors we have met in Australia, New Zealand, North and South America, and Europe.

Our Holistic Care approach ensures families feel supported before, during, and after—whether through our guidance, connecting them with trusted organisations and resources, or providing grief support services at no cost to them.

We also believe in the power of personal touches—from offering a selection of urn designs with every cremation to collaborating with exceptional florists to create meaningful tributes.

  • Launched in January 2025, Marc and Friends builds on 30 years of innovation. Marc has helped design and manufacture specialised hearses—finalists in the Australian International Design Awards—and played a key role in The Salvation Army’s funeral service, one of Australia’s fastest-growing startups.

Our Care Fund supports families facing financial hardship, and our Holistic Care approach introduces families to GriefShare, a grief support network that has helped over 1 million people worldwide.

We also keep prices fair and sustainable, ensuring fair wages in a sector known for disparities. Our Instant Quote with Options & Advice tool (below) is the first of its kind, based on global research into funeral innovations.

Since launching in January 2025, Marc & Friends has been warmly received. These are reviews from people I met before founding and stayed in touch with.

In January 2023, Marc Allison conducted the funeral of my father-in-law, Roy. My wife and I would both highly recommend Marc. The genuine care and compassion was not superficial but deep and sincere. The care he displayed to my wife and her sister was really appreciated. Also, every care and attention was given to the desires and wishes of the family. So again, we both highly recommend him.

After a tragedy, Marc not only provided a sensitive funeral service, he also provided empathy and compassion. Most importantly though he provided Christian fellowship that has lasted beyond the funeral which I cherish enormously.
— Christian M
We have no hesitation in recommending Marc Allison. We found him to be very understanding and accommodating of our needs in a traumatic time. He showed great empathy and expertise; he was resourceful, helping us work through all the logistics and he communicated very well throughout the funeral process.
— Kate H
I recommend to you Marc & Friends, in particular Marc Allison whom I have known since 2020. My wide experience as a Minister of Religion for over fifty years has brought me into contact with many and varied funeral homes; however, I need to state that Marc is of the highest standard of any other services I have officiated with over the years.
— Peter
  • “The Christian warmth and respect are an approach taken by Marc which makes his services of significance in time of need by family and friends. The compassion and detail in arranging a service for loved one’s is taken seriously and with particular care, consideration and thoughtfulness to the needs of the family and friends.

It has been evident to me that Marc takes time providing patience, warmth and a steady presence as he comes alongside those who grieve. His professionalism, while present, is enhanced by one who is sensitive, personal and genuine.

After officiating at a number of services directed by Marc, I would recommend him to any family who are looking for someone to come alongside them in their time of sorrow. I believe Marc can offer integrity and kindness to such situations.”
