Compassionate Care for Families in Western Sydney

Western Sydney has long been home to families who look out for each other — a region shaped by resilience, generosity, and the kind of everyday care that often goes unnoticed.

Before founding Marc and Friends, Marc had the privilege of caring for families in and around Western Sydney at various times since 2004. Over the years, he has supported families in or around Auburn, Blacktown, Cabramatta, Doonside, Fairfield, Granville, Guildford, Harris Park, Lidcombe, Merrylands, Minchinbury, Mount Druitt, Parramatta, Penrith, Rookwood, Quakers Hill, Schofields, Seven Hills, St Marys, Villawood and Whalan.

Service Options with Personal Touches and Care

Whatever arrangements you choose — whether a cremation-only service, a funeral and cremation, or a funeral and burial — we offer thoughtful touches of care.

How We Care for Every Family

  • Each cremation includes a choice of urns, suitable for keeping or for scattering with dignity if desired.

  • Every burial includes a basket of rose petals for family and friends to sprinkle on the coffin or casket.

  • Families arranging a funeral can also choose from coffins and caskets offered at cost, including a distinctive option locally handcrafted from recycled timber.

From the welcome table on the day of the service, we offer gentle care from the very first moment.

Whether or not you choose to have a funeral service, our support continues gently in the weeks that follow, through thoughtful aftercare.

Thanks to families who pay the usual fee, we’re also able to extend the same level of care to those in financial need with Subsidised Funerals.

Choose the path that best serves your family:

Cremation-Only with Personal Touches and Care

Some families seek a simple, efficient cremation. Others also value having time to share stories and memories with us along the way.

Whatever your needs, we are here to care for your family with quiet gestures of care and support — not just arrangements.

Most families choose for the cremation to take place in South-Western Sydney, as it is our most affordable option. Cremation is also available at a local crematorium, for an additional fee.

Your loved one’s ashes will be returned to you, or to a cemetery or memorial garden if you wish, with care, in the way that suits your family best — with no additional cost for collection, delivery, or postage.

Kemps Creek Memorial Park has a chapel in their Sydney Crematorium, built in 2023. The open-air pavilion can be used for a funeral or refreshments after a service.

The cemetery also includes Sydney Natural Burial Park, or St Francis Field — a peaceful bushland area with lake views and no formal headstones. Graves are unmarked but recorded by GPS, with names on a shared sandstone memorial. Marc has supported families here, helping to honour environmental values with dignity.

Service options at Pinegrove Memorial Park

  • North Chapel – seats up to 108 guests and is well suited to larger gatherings. It features two external screens and floor-to-ceiling windows, some of which may be opened during the service.

  • West Chapel – seats 101 and offers a more private setting, with one external screen.

Most families choose to have the coffin delivered quietly in advance and placed before guests arrive. For an additional fee, a more traditional entry can be arranged, with the coffin delivered by hearse — allowing the family to carry in.

Marc has helped families hold viewings in both chapels. These can take place discreetly behind curtains before the service, without anyone else in the chapel. If a viewing is planned, we recommend booking extra time (available for an additional fee) so it doesn’t feel rushed.

Each booking includes 45 minutes in the chapel, with 15 minutes either side for arrival and departure. For a more relaxed pace — especially when including a viewing — we suggest booking an additional time slot to ensure privacy and avoid overlap with the next service.

After the service, you may wish to gather in the onsite Reflection Lounge for refreshments.

Service options at Rookwood

Rookwood is operated by three separate organisations.

Many families choose Rookwood Memorial Gardens and Crematorium (often simply called Rookwood Crematorium). But Marc often suggests holding the service in the All Souls Chapel at Rookwood General Cemetery instead — it has been modernised in recent years and is usually less expensive.

The Catholic Cemetery at Rookwood has Australia’s only Catholic crematorium. It’s a meaningful choice for some families, though it generally comes at a higher cost.

For burial, Rookwood Catholic Cemetery often provides the most affordable option. Please note they require a Catholic priest — or an ordained minister, priest, or pastor from another Christian tradition — to officiate.

If you’d like to gather after the service, a space can be booked at Village Functions, near the main entrance. Smaller groups sometimes prefer the alfresco café opposite, with its awning and nearby playground. The Catholic Cemetery have condolence lounges for catering after the service.
