Funeral, cremation and burial services in the Inner West

Providing genuine care and thoughtful personal touches for Inner West locals

A terrace house in Sydney's Inner West, with white walls, a staircase, partially obscured by trees and greenery, with a black metal fence in the foreground.

The Inner West is where character-filled streets and leafy laneways hum with the stories of generations. Marc and his family share a deep connection with this vibrant part of Sydney.

In 1895, Marc’s ancestor on his grandmother’s side, Thomas James Andrews, established TJ Andrews on Enmore Road, Newtown. It became a well-known name in the area. When Marc was entrusted with managing the sale of the Newtown premises in 2011, he uncovered a unique piece of local history. One of the buildings on the property was reputed to have been the Newtown stationmaster’s residence.

Though the business is no longer in family hands, Marc’s affection for the Inner West remains strong. His grandmother trained as a nurse at RPA Hospital, where two of his children were later born. He has ancestors are buried within the grounds of St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Newtown.

Before founding Marc and Friends, Marc had the privilege of caring for families on the Inner West at various times since 2004. Over the years, he has supported families in and around Abbotsford, Alexandria, Annandale, Ashfield, Balmain, Burwood, Camperdown, Concord, Croydon, Drummoyne, Dulwich Hill, Erskineville, Five Dock, Forest Lodge, Glebe, Haberfield, Homebush, Marrickville, Newtown, Petersham, Strathfield, Summer Hill, and others areas in this part of Sydney.

Services for 250+ Guests

It can be difficult to find a venue for a larger service in the Inner West itself. However, Council has several options. Their theatre-style seating capacity is as follows:

  • Ashfield Town Hall: 250 people

  • Balmain Town Hall: 300 people

  • Leichhardt Town Hall: 300 people

  • Marrickville Town Hall: 500 people (400 on the main floor and 100 on the balcony)

  • Petersham Town Hall: 400 people

For a larger service, Marc strongly recommends visiting the venue to get a sense of the atmosphere and understand practical considerations, such as local parking options. After-service catering may best be suited to occur on-site.

The costs for Marc and Friends would be our normal charges, aside from additional staff.
